5 Steps to Becoming More Self-Reliant: A Beginner's Guide

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and dependent on others for our basic needs. However, by becoming more self-reliant, we can take control of our lives and reduce our reliance on external sources. But where do you start? In this article, we'll explore the five steps you can take to become more self-reliant, from laying out your plan to enjoying the fruits of your labor.

Step 1: Lay Out Your Plan

The first step to becoming more self-reliant is exactly as it sounds because we’ll, you’ve got to get started someplace right. So lay out your plan. This involves identifying the areas where you want to become more self-sufficient, such as food, water, shelter, and energy, finances, health or even self-defense. Once you have a clear idea of your goals, you can create a plan that outlines the steps you need to take to achieve and every one of them. Don’t take shortcuts here. The more defined your initial plan is the more refined your final results will be..

Step 2: Research Each Part of Your Plan

Once you have a plan in place, it's time to do some research. This involves learning about each part of your plan in great detail, including the tools, techniques, and resources you'll need to execute it. For example, if you want to grow your own food, you'll need to research different gardening methods, soil types, garden styles and crop varieties. You wouldn’t try flying to the moon with out learning how to be an astronaut right? So don’t try and do some of these other things without learning how to do them.

Step 3: Acquire the Necessary Supplies to Execute Each Part of Your Plan

With your plan and research in hand, it's time to acquire the necessary supplies to execute each part of your plan.Your supplies may involve purchasing tools, equipment, and supplies, or learning new skills and techniques. It's important to take your time and invest in high-quality supplies that will last, rather than buying cheap, low-quality items that will need to be replaced frequently. The whole point in learning to live a more self reliant life style is so that when nobody else is around to depend on it doesn’t matter. You can take care of yourself. So Invest in quality tools and supplies because when you need them most you might not have immediate access to new stuff.

Step 4: Complete Each Step of Your Plan. One at a Time. From Beginning to End.

Now that you have your supplies, it's time to start working on your plan. It's important to take things one step at a time, starting from the beginning and working your way through each step until you reach your goal. This is a marathon not a sprint. If your feeling overwhelmed, break down each task into even smaller steps or even more basic tasks. Maybe you want to learn how to can food using the water bath method? We’ll start off with one of the easiest things to jar. WATER! It’s pretty much impossible to mess up and if you do, just start over. Breaking down theories and tasks like this will help you stay focused and avoid feeling overwhelmed. Remember. One foot in front of the other but you got to walk before you can run!

Step 5: Sit Back and Enjoy

Finally, once you've completed each step of your plan, it's time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Whether you're harvesting your first crop of vegetables or enjoying the warmth of a fire you built yourself, take some time to appreciate the hard work you've put in and the rewards it has and will continue to bring to you and your loved ones.

Becoming more self-reliant is a process that takes time and effort, but it's a journey that is well worth taking. By following these five steps, you can take control of your life, reduce your reliance on external sources, and enjoy the satisfaction of being self-sufficient. So start planning, researching, and acquiring the necessary supplies today, and soon you'll be well on your way to becoming more self-reliant.
